Admissions

At Easterside Academy, we warmly welcome all parents and carers who would like to visit our school. We are always happy to arrange a tour and a conversation with the Principal about admissions.

We are delighted that you are considering Easterside Academy for your child’s education.

Who manages admissions?

Easterside Academy is part of the Enquire Learning Trust, which is the admissions authority for our school and is responsible for setting our admissions arrangements.

  • You can view the Trust’s admissions arrangements here.

Starting Nursery

Children are usually admitted to our Nursery shortly after their third birthday, unless places are full and a waiting list is in operation.

When a place becomes available, the Nursery Lead will contact parents/carers to begin the transition and induction process. A list of children awaiting places is kept by our Nursery Lead Practitioner and Early Years Lead. To help secure a place, parents/carers should register their child’s name with the school office as early as possible.

  • Our Nursery has capacity for 24 children within a session, who usually attend for half a day (morning or afternoon).

  • We are also pleased to be able to offer 30-hour places for eligible families. You can check the criteria for 30-hour places here.

For more details about our Nursery provision, please visit our Early Years page.

School Admissions

Children start full-time primary school in the academic year in which they turn five years of age. The first class they will attend is called the reception class. The following years classes are called Year 1 through to Year 6.

For more information on admission arrangements please follow the link below to the guide produced by Middlesbrough Council.  It aims to help you if your child is starting school for the first time, moving from primary to secondary education, transferring from one school to another or if you are new to the area. It describes admission arrangements for both primary and secondary schools. The link contains general information on education in Middlesbrough and lists each of the schools in the Local Authority (LA), together with admission arrangements, including the type of school, the total number of pupils in the school, and the maximum number of places normally available in each school year. You are entitled to express a preference as to which primary school you want your child to attend.

If you wish to speak to someone about a place for your child – please contact the School Office on 01642 273006.
