At Easterside, we provide a caring and inclusive school. All staff provide a supportive learning environment in which every child can achieve and we engage with all families to ensure all children achieve their full potential. At Easterside, we aim to provide a broad, balanced and varied curriculum that meets the needs of all children.
We aspire to ensure that we identify and assess early indicators of a special education need or disability at the earliest time so that appropriate provision and support can be put in place at the soonest opportunity. School are eager to work with parents to support identification of needs. Where necessary school aim to aid parents with appropriate outside agency referrals.
We follow a graduated approach to assessing, planning, doing and reviewing the provision and progress of each child identified as having a special educational need or disability. We recognise the vital role parents have in supporting school to best meet the holistic needs of their children.
We work closely with a range of outside agencies (Applied Psychologies, Speech and Language, NHS medical services, CAMHS, Neurodevelopmental Pathway to name a few) in order to best understand the needs of individuals and to best adapt provision to support the child in the most effective ways.
We prioritise effective in school and next stage transitions so children experience smooth move to the next step of their education.
Mrs J Southern is our Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-Ordinator (SENDCo) and she works closely with school staff and outside agencies to support and assess children as a need arises. She can be contacted on the school office number 01642 273006, office staff will be able to take a message or arrange a telephone/face to face meeting with her.

What is the Local Offer?
The LA Local Offer:
- The Children and Families Bill became enacted in 2014. From this date, Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.
- The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.
