Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that a pupil in school has tested positive for Covid-19.  We have taken advice from Public Health England and have decided, with the support of the Enquire Learning Trust, to close the Class 3 bubble as a precautionary measure. This is for those that have attended school this week. We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended that they stay at home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact.

This does not affect the rest of the school year groups as they do not identify as close contacts. The measures that we have put in place to socially distance each bubble have been implemented precisely for this type of circumstance, to minimise disruption to education for as many pupils as we can at all times.

We understand that this disruption is far from ideal, but I am sure you can appreciate that we have to follow clear procedures in light of a positive case. As a school, we will continue to follow all government guidance to ensure the safety of both children and staff.

Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone that during this current situation that you are being asked to monitor your own health and that of your child, looking out for any symptoms such as a cough or fever. I would like to thank you all for the sensible and safe approach you are taking to school attendance at the moment in order to ensure the school community continues to be able to operate.

To remind you, you should look for any of the following symptoms:

  • new continuous cough;
  • fever (a temperature of 37.8°C or higher);
  • loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

If you develop these symptoms, at any point, you must, stay at home for 10 days from when your symptoms have started and refer to the guidance at

Thank you for your continued understanding.

Yours sincerely,

D. Linacre
